Happy New Year to you! May 2018 bring you joy, peace, good health and happiness.
In 2017, we embarked on a Re-envisioning Exercise to review our goals and direction. As part of the exercise, we sought inputs from staff, students, alumni and parents. Based on the inputs, we formulated a new vision and a new set of values for our students. Our new vision is ‘Passionate Learners. Principled Leaders. Grateful Citizens’ and our new values are ‘Gratitude’, ‘Respect’, Ingenuity’, ‘Trustworthiness’ and ‘Grit’ (GRIT Values).
We would like our students to be Passionate Learners. As Passionate Learners, we would like them to pursue knowledge and skills with passion and grit, using their ingenuity to innovate and positively impact the community. As Principled Leaders, we would like our students to first be leaders of self and then of others, and to be anchored in and guided by sound values such as trustworthiness and respect. As Grateful Citizens, we would like our students to have a strong sense of belonging to their home, school, community and nation. We would also like them to appreciate and show gratitude for their provisions.
As the school firmly believes that character development is the cornerstone for positive youth development, we will continue to invest resources to grow our students into responsible young adults. As a parent, you are the key navigator of your child’s growth. Your child will benefit the most when we put him/her at the heart of what we do, and when we understand our shared responsibilities for your child and work together to bring out the best in him/her. Having a close partnership with us will help you to better understand your child’s learning experience in school, so that you could provide him/her the necessary family care, support and reinforcement at home.
Once again parents, I wish you and your child the very best in 2018. Do continue to work closely with the school as we strive to develop your child into GRIT STARS! Thank you.
